Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day

Broemmelsiek Park, O Fallon, Mo
Gateway Off Road Cyclists ( GORC ) with St Charles County Parks invites children (8-14) and parents to celebrate International Mountain Bike Association ( IMBA ) sponsored “National Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day”. Free bicycle/helmet safety inspection, instructions on riding techniques, a skills practice area, and guided trail rides tailored to different age groups and skill levels. Participants should bring a bike and an approved helmet. Limited Number of Demo Bikes/ Helmets from local bike shops will be available.
When: Saturday, October 1, 2011 ( 10am – 2pm )
Where: Broemmelsiek Park in St Charles County
So come out and bring a kid with you for some good, clean fun in the dirt. Bring plenty of water and an adventurous spirit.
Schedule of Events
10am – 11am Registration
10am – 11:30am Helmet Fit / Bike Safety Inspection
10am – Noon Skills Building Area available
11am – 1pm Trail Etiquette and Guided Trail Rides
1pm – 2pm Drinks, Snacks - Prize Drawings
Advanced Registration is recommended, but not required.

From US 40/61 Bear Right (North)onto Ramp Winghaven Blvd
Bear Left (North-West) onto Local road
Turn Left (south-West) onto Mo-DD
Keep straight on Mo-DD for 3.9 miles
Turn Right (West) onto Schwede Rd
Go approx. ½ mile, Parking for Park is on the left side of road.
From Bryan Road / Winghaven Blvd in Ofallon, Mo. (Bryan Road/Winghaven Blvd changes to Hwy Mo-DD after crossing US-61)
Keep straight on Mo-DD for 3.9 miles
Turn Right (West) onto Schwede Rd Go approx. ½ mile, Parking for Park is on the left side of road.

OTA Bluegrass Family Weekend

Bluegrass Family Weekend
Fund-raising Event to Benefit the Ozark Trail
Date: Friday, October 15 through Sunday, October 17, 2010
Location: Bass' River Resort, near Steelville, MO
Cost: $20 per person ($5 for children under 12 years)
• Free tent camping on Friday and Saturday night
• For hikers and cyclists we'll have options for easier or more challenging treks--shuttle service provided with choice of times on Saturday
• For horse folks, we'll offer a guided trail ride plus carriage and cart rides, all on Saturday. Parking for horse trailers and room to tie-out will be available
• For trail-working enthusiasts, we'll offer an outing and a crew leader and tools
• Brown bag lunch and BBQ dinner on Saturday
• Roaring bonfire with bluegrass music provided by two bands: Rosewood and River Ridge String Band--shows begin at 2:00 and 7:00 p.m.
• Chance to purchase raffle tickets for great outdoor gear and fun items
If you prefer, you can rent an electric campsite or cabin from Bass' Resort by contacting them directly at www.bassresort.com.
On Sunday, you can choose to purchase Bass' country breakfast and stay for activities on your own including kayaking, canoe and tube floats on Courtois Creek, using Bass' regularly-priced services.
If you're planng to attend:
Bring: lawn chairs, water if you'll be out on the trail, cash for raffle tickets, and any outdoor games you enjoy (washers, volleyball, croquet, etc.)
Consider: inviting friends and family to join you for a great fall weekend in the Ozarks!
One more: a limited number of special "Bluegrass Family Weekend" t-shirts will be available to purchase in a variety of sizes

Pre-registration and advance payment are required to make your reservation. Please follow the steps below:
1. To register, visit the Ozark Trail Association website: www.ozarktrail.com and click on Sign Up for An Event. Enter your registration information in the fields provided.
2. To make your payment. Fill in your contact information and add any additional participants who should be included in your payment. The secure form will request your credit card information.
3. You'll receive a payment confirmation at the Email address you specify in the payment form.
When you arrive at the Bluegrass Family Weekend, please check in at the event registration desk for a schedule of events and to receive your wrist-bands for meals and activities.

Halloween Spooktacular - Night Ride at Broemmelsiek!
Hey everyone!!! Don't miss out on the first ever GORC spooktacular!
On October 30th Broemmelsiek park will be open to us for an awesome night!!!
There will be a guided ride at 7:30pm. Let us know if you're coming by mentioning it on the message board.All festivities to kick off when the ride gets back . First off we are going to have a Chili COOK OFF!!!!!!! So bring out your best!!! There will be an obstacle course. Come in costume and have a chance at winning a prize!
Prizes given for 1st place in the Chili cook off, obstacle course, Best costume and Scariest costume . Ballot box to vote on your faves! Bob for apples or beer! Come and join your friends for a great time with bikes and beer.

Take a Kid Mountain Biking Day - Oct. 10
We will sponsoring the 3rd Annual " Take A Kid Mountain Biking Day". This is a very important day to us. Come on out and visit our booth and check out the kids having a blast. We also could use some help at this event.
Date:...October 10, 2009
Time: ...10am to 1pm
Place: ... Frontier Park..and..Bangert Island.......St Charles, Mo
Skills Area will be set up near Lewis and Clark Statue (small teeters,ladder bridges,skinnies,cone courses)
Guided Mountain Bike Ride will be at Bangert Island Trail
GORCsters and Patrollers will assist the kids with their skills and then supply guided rides at Bangert Island Trail.
We will need some assistance from GORCsters.
